WHO DOESN’T LOVE POGO?

Inspiration

Walt Kelly, former Disney animator and outstanding comic strip writer/artist, termed the now famous phrase, “We have met the enemy and he is us!” It was about how we pollute our planet, and his comic strip characters hit the mark on this topic. “Pogo” was one of my favorite strips as a kid, though it was sometimes impossible to decode the backwoods swamp lingo of Pogo, Albert Alligator, Howland Owl, and the others… and don’t even try to figure out little Grundoon’s verbiage! Even the other characters debated what he was saying!

Wally and Root encounter some denizens of the world of Pogo in today’s strip. It’s impossible, yes, for a stream to go from Marceline, Missouri, all the way to the Okefenokee Swamp AND traverse time – but this is why we love comic strips, right? The impossible is possible!
