AN HOMAGE TO A LUCKY RABBIT

Many don’t realize (maybe they do by now) that Mickey Mouse has an older brother named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was a great success in his day. There was even merchandise in the form of a candy bar! Unfortunately, Oswald was “kidnapped” by the distributor of Walt’s early efforts – the guy copyrighted Oswald and hired away most of Walt’s animators behind his back! Of course history has proven that it isn’t just the characters (or intellectual properties) but the creative mind behind the scenes, and Walt’s creative mind was prodigious! A few months later, in an act of near desperation, Mickey Mouse was born – and the rest is history.

My character here, Orville Hare, is a respectful homage to Oswald.
